Using Facebook to Market & Promote your Business or Product

Facebook is now the king of social networking sites. Facebook didn't started but they sure did take over. MySpace and Bebo were full of younger kids, musicians/bands and terrible spellers. They allowed users to customise their pages, this is where they went wrong I think... just go on bebo or myspace and you'll see exactly what I mean. Facebook always kept things professional and easy to follow. Alot of businesses use facebook now to promote their business or just to have an online presence.

Sign up to facebook, create a username etc... (if you can't do that then you might want to learn some more basic internet skills first) After you've done that go to http://www.facebook.com/grouphome.php and follow the instructions. Upload your logo and add your information then save. Now you'll want to find some people to be in your group, you can start off by telling people you know (especially your customers). It's likely that they have a facebook page already. Another way to find people is to let facebook search your email account for addresses and invite them. You can put a link on your website (if you have one) telling people to join your facebook group. These are all good ways to get people to join your group but nothing beats the best and final one.

Join all groups related to yourself and get to know people in these groups. Become their friends on facebook and then send them all invites to join your group. This is a simple but incredibly effective way to get ALOT of people to join your group.

Once you have people in your group you can start to market to them. Whatever you do, DON'T spam them and over market your services/products. Offer alot of free advice and interesting information relating to your market. Now and again, mention your products and services and people will be much more likely to want them.
